Verdant. Everything. Everywhere. New England waits so long to get here but May and June deliver. Surely by July this lightweightedness will weigh us down and saturate us with humidity. Such is our state(s). The weather has me on the upswing… floating on dopamine anthems and avoiding stillness. Life is short. Floor it through the fences.
The album is done. It’s really, truly done. Maybe this is part of the lightness. It has a name. It’s been mastered. There’s artwork. There will be tapes. I am resisting the urge to tell you everything now so that I have something to email you about in the future.
Upcoming shows:
June 29th at The Dreamaway Lodge with Rick from Pile
Thrilled to be doing a show with Rick Maguire from Pile at one of my favorite venues, The Dreamaway Lodge. If you’ve never made it out there, it’s fully worth the trip. There are few places that have that kind of magic. Sam Rich made this beautiful poster.
I have a lot of stories about early Pile. I won’t bore you with them now. But I will give you this: Ten years ago we shot this video of Rick at The Thing in the Spring in Peterborough. Watching it now I notice how nice the colors are (good job, Fuchsia), how the frame rate does fun things to the guitar strings and how pre-stabilization these shots are. Honestly, I love it.
July 7th at Bookends in Florence, MA with c0wperson, b*o*b*b*i*e, and Paperdisk. More news soon.
PS: Secrets Secrets
I’m saying goodbye to my irrecoverably out-of-tune childhood piano today in favor of a replacement that will allow me to practice with headphones at any hour of the night. I spent a lot of early May playing songs that I loved so much I couldn’t figure out what to do with my hyperfixations but play them.
I am working on embracing my own comfort level with sharing imperfection so here are two (incredibly imperfect) voicememos :
As always, hit us up if you have ideas about cool shows we should do or recommendations on books we should read or if there are important points of advocacy we should be aware of. The world moves too fast to keep track of it all. This is a joint effort.
