HIDE, cicadas, Boston show, album countdown, new band members
Strangers on the internet said what??
I am writing this in a field somewhere you’ll never find me. A field with wi-fi. Imagine that. The future is wild. This morning I finished a book (Everything You Ever Wanted) in which the protagonist has left Earth to live on a different planet, never to return. She talks about the constant hum of the hub they live in which protects them from the harsh environment on the planet that they couldn’t actually survive in should they go outdoors and how she misses silence. I have been thinking for days about the last time I experienced silence. While not an electronic hum, the cicadas and crickets are perpetual this time of year. Perhaps it happens in the winter and like all New Englanders I have forgotten what the opposing season is actually like.
Did you come here for my unedited musings or news about All Feels? Oh right. Probably the former but I just added you to the latter because I am rude.
Here’s what All Feels is up to:
“HIDE” IS OUT AND SOME PEOPLE ENJOY IT
Our newest song (and last before the full album drops next month) “Hide” came out this week. You can stream it on Bandcamp, or Spotify, or YouTube or IDK try typing it into the search bar of your preferred streaming vendor and see what happens. Eric Danton of the newsletter Freak Scene writes that we “nail the balance between huge and intimate” which is basically all I have ever wanted so I suppose I can quit writing songs now.
JUST KIDDING. I am in a field somewhere because I am fortunate enough to be doing very little other than writing songs for the rest of the month. It is proving to be both unbelievably magical and satisfyingly dull — breaking me open and breaking me down all in the same hour if I’m lucky. I’ll tell you more about it later.
WE ACCIDENTALLY STOLE 2/3RDS OF TRUE JACKIE
Cat’s out of the bag on this one but ICYMI, we are indeed now a 5-piece band with Kate and Noah Dowd both joining the AF Fam. And yes, I have apologized to Brian about this. Good thing we only play like four shows a year!
Speaking of shows…
BOSTON(ish) SHOW
Our eastern MA album release show is happening on October 15th at Deep Cuts. Grab tickets here. We are playing with TIFFY and Dead Gowns (solo). What a dreamy line-up!
ALBUM COUNTDOWN
THIS PLACE IS A MESSAGE comes out on October 4th. If you haven’t pre-ordered a tape, please do! You don’t even need a tape deck. It can be something weird you decorate a shelf with. The album art is colorful. You too can fight back against the Millennial Grey that dominated the 2010s. Also the music is pretty good.
Do you need more convincing? Here’s what some people on YouTube say about these songs:
“Why this songs aren't popular? Its just magnificent”
“One of the best songs I've heard in 2023”
“just perfect”
“this is actually beautiful goddamn <3”
WOW! Thank you strangers on the internet. Your reassurance that our hobbies have external value helps us make sense of our devotion to creating art in a world that prioritizes validation from others. You’re all tastemakers in my book.
